Germany, Third Reich. A Pair of Decorations for the Anschluss and Pact of Steel

(Auszeichungen). A pair of decorations, including:

1. An Anschluss Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a date of “13. MÄRZ 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.25 mm in diameter, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a rigid card stock frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and slotted maroon felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 48 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating material fatigue throughout the case, in overall very fine condition.

2. An Italo-German patriotic badge, constructed of black wool, the obverse bearing a hand-embroidered gold bullion wire mobile swastika defaced by a fasces, unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 70 mm (h), demonstrating some mothing and material fatigue, an interesting badge issued to commemorate the Pact of Steel, in very fine condition.
