Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot Of Decorations

(Auszeichnungen). A mixed lot of three decorations, including:

1. A 1939 Iron Cross I Class, constructed of iron and silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44.06 mm (w) x 44.27 mm (h), weighing 15.9 grams, the core demonstrates moderate loss of finish with consequent oxidation and the frame has been bent post-manufacture for a vaulted appearance, in very fine condition.

2. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 47.52 mm (w) x 48.04 mm (h), weighing 29.2 grams, in near mint condition.

3. A Civil Service 40-Year Faithful Service Award, constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from a period replacement ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms joined together through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central black swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 40.81 mm (w) x 45.52 mm (h), weighing 20.3 grams, demonstrating minor tarnishing, in near extremely fine condition.
