Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Badges and Insignia

(Abzeichen und Insignien). A mixed lot of badges and insignia, including:

1. A Minesweeper War Badge, constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a central depiction of an exploding sea mine, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN” and maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 43.40 mm (w) x 54.28 mm (h), weighing 25.3 grams, demonstrating loss of finish throughout, in very fine condition. 

2. A Sturmabteilung (SA) Sports Badge, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, surrounding a central mobile swastika overlaid by a sword arranged vertically, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “W. REDO, SAARLAUTERN”, measuring 46.94 mm (w) x 59.15 mm (h), weighing 19.6 grams, a Type III badge in extremely fine condition.

3. A Heer EM/NCO’s visor cap eagle, constructed of aluminum, the reverse maker marked, measuring 65 mm (w) x 26 mm (h), missing all three attachment prongs, in very fine condition.

4. A Political Leader visor cap eagle, constructed of gilded aluminum, the reverse retaining all three attachment prongs, marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/44” for C. Dinsel, Berlin, measuring 68 mm (w) x 35 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
