(Auszeichnungen). A mixed lot of awards, including:
1. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “24” for Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Hanauer Plakettenhersteller, measuring 44.50 mm (w) x 48.20 mm (h), weighing 19.5 grams, demonstrating some loss of finish to the core with slight surface oxidation, in very fine condition.
2. A Ground Assault Badge, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaying a stylized cloud from which a lightning bolt emanates and strikes the ground, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch emanating from a circular plate, unmarked, measuring 44.18 mm (w) x 55.95 mm (h), weighing 24.3 grams, near-total loss of finish is evident, the obverse eagle plate is missing, and letters and lines have been hand-carved into the reverse, in fair condition.
3. A DRL Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon defaced by a mobile swastika, surrounding central stylized initials “DRL”, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “ERNST L. MÜLLER, PFORZHEIM”, measuring 38.96 mm (w) x 47.72 mm (h), weighing 17.9 grams, in extremely fine condition.
