Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Awards for Civil and Military Merit

(Auszeichnungen). A mixed lot of awards, including:

1. A General Assault Badge, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, surrounding a central Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, situated above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 42.51 mm (w) x 52.86 mm (H), weighing 15.2 grams, demonstrating loss of finish to the base metal and a period repair to the hinge, in very fine condition.

2. An Air Defence Honour Decoration, II Class, constructed of aluminum, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a double-sided circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM LUFTSCHUTZ” (“FOR MERIT IN AIR DEFENCE”), the reverse bearing a raised date of “1938”, unmarked, measuring 38.74 mm in diameter, weighing 13.0 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.

3. A Sturmabteilung (SA) Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, surrounding a central mobile swastika, in turn overlaid by a sword, the reverse with a barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, stamped with an award number of “380440”, maker marked “E. SCHNEIDER, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring 45.15 mm (w) x 57.74 mm (h), weighing 17.3 grams, a Type II badge in near extremely fine condition.
