Germany, Third Reich. A Mint Order of the German Eagle, II/III Class Cross, by Gebrüder Godet

(Deutscher Adlerorden Kreuz II. Klasse/III. Klasse). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1939-1943 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms joined through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a ribbed fan and eyelet with a ribbed ring retaining an original confectioned neck ribbon, the eyelet stamped with a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 49.42 mm (w) x 58.39 mm (h), weighing 29.0 grams, a striking example demonstrating the noted jeweller quality of Godet and presenting free of notable wear or imperfections, in near mint condition.
