Germany, Third Reich. A Medal Bar for Red Cross and Police Service

(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar featuring two decorations, including:

1. A Medal of the German Red Cross, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a Geneva Cross with red enameled arms, joined through the outer quadrants by a white enameled ring, bearing a central gilt and black enameled German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse of the crossed featuring a pebbled finish and bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS DEUTSCHE ROTE KREUZ” (“FOR SERVICE TO THE GERMAN RED CROSS”), measuring 39.06 mm in diameter, demonstrating loss of finish to the base metal with some surface scratching and flecking to the enamels, in better than very fine condition.

2. A Police Long Service Medal, III Class for 8 Years, constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse bearing a raised Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised number “8”, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER POLIZEI” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE POLICE”), unmarked, measuring 38.16 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.

Both suspended from a 70 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback and red wool reverse liner, unmarked, demonstrating some soiling to the ribbons, in near extremely fine condition.
