Germany, Third Reich. A Medal Bar for a First and Second World War Non-Combatant
(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar for a First and Second World non-combatant who also rendered distinguished civil service, featuring six awards, including:
1. A War Merit Cross II Class, constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, without visible marks, measuring 48.89 mm (w) x 48.66 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
2. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Non-Combatants, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse bearing wreathed dates “1914-1918”, unmarked, measuring 37.07 mm (w) x 42.19 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
3. A Sudetenland Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with Prague Castle Bar, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a date of “1. OKTOBER 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.38 mm in diameter, in very fine condition.
4. A Civil Service 25-Year Faithful Service Award, constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central black enameled swastika, the reverse bearing a central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 42.28 mm (w) x 46.94 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
5. A German Social Welfare Medal, constructed of a silvered metal alloy, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a pebbled Geneva Cross overlaid by a DRK-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “MEDAILLE FÜR DEUTSCHE VOLKSPFLEGE”, unmarked, measuring 38.15 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
6. A Hungarian War Commemorative Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.74 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
All suspended from a 155 mm-long bar with a magnetic metal core, field-grey wool liner, and horizontal pinback, demonstrating moderate soiling to the ribbons, in better than very fine condition.
