(Erinnerungsmedaille für Rettung aus Gefahr). Instituted 22 June 1933 by Paul von Hindenburg. (1934-1945 issue). Constructed of silver, the obverse bearing a raised German national eagle overlaid by a central shield bearing a mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of “FÜR RETTUNG AUS GEFAHR” (“FOR RESCUE FROM DANGER”), the edge maker marked “PR. MÜNZE BERLIN” for the Prussian Mint in Berlin, with a silver content number of “835” and a crescent moon indicating German manufacture, measuring 49.80 mm in diameter, weighing 54.8 grams, the top edge has been drilled with a threaded rivet with the outline of the fixture visible against the eagle’s head, in near extremely fine condition, accompanied by its period original presentation acse, constructed of two pieces of card stock, the exterior with a faux light grey leather liner, the lid with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed grey velvet medal bed, unmarked, measuring 66 mm (w) x 66 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), with moderate material fatigue evident throughout, in very fine condition.
