A grouping of two Iron Cross 1939 awards, consisting of:
1. A 1939 Clasp to the Iron Cross I. Class, Second Pattern, “Full Vein” Variant by Funcke & Brüninghaus. (Wiederholungsspange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz I. Klasse 1914, 2. Form). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1940-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consists of a Wehrmacht eagle perched on top of a wreathed mobile swastika, in turn situated above a trapezoidal plaque bearing a raised date of “1939” on a pebbled background, the reverse with two prongs for attachment (two broken off), marked “L/56” for manufacture by Funcke & Brüninghaus of Lüdenscheid, with beautiful thin veins in the leaves of the oak wreath and fine pebbling signature to the “Full Vein” variant, accompanied by a short period original ribbon segment, measuring 30.2 mm (w) x 30.7 mm (l), weighing 6.81 grams, in better than very fine condition.
2. An Iron Cross 1939 Second Class by Rudolf Souval of Vienna. (Eisernes Kreuz 1939 II. Klasse) Reinstituted September 1st, 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of iron and silver on a fixed loop and swivel ring for suspension from its full-length mint and unissued period original replacement ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, unmarked but displaying the typical manufacturing characteristics of crosses by Rudolf Souval, such as the “claw-pattern” outer tips and rounded inner tips, measuring 44.6 mm (w) x 44.6 mm (l), weighing 19.80 grams, the paint of the core very well preserved with pleasant dark patina on the silver frame fro
