(Reichsfeuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross with its arms joined through the quadrants by a circular ring bearing an obverse inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE FIGHTING”), the obverse of the cross with white enameled arms bearing stylized red flames, overlaid by a central white enameled medallion bearing a black mobile swastika surrounded by a circular black enameled ring, the reverse maker marked “GLASER & SOHN, DRESDEN”, measuring 43.00 mm (w) x 47.48 mm (h), weighing 18.7 grams, accompanied by a mis-matched period presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a silvered LDO logo, the interior with a fitted beige velvet medal bed, the base stamped with an LDO code of “L/55” for Wächtler & Lange, Mittweida, measuring 70 mm (w) x 80 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), a case issued for a Wehrmacht award, demonstrating some flecking and surface scratching to the enamels of the cross, in overall extremely fine condition.
