Description
Softcover, entitled "Waffen-SS: It's Uniforms, Insignia and Equipment 1938-1945", text and artwork by D.S.V. Fosten and R.J. Marion, first published in 1971, Almark Publishing Company Limited of Edgware, Middlesex, England, copyrighted by the publisher in 1971, printed in Great Britain by Vale Press Limited of Mitcham, Surrey, England, ISBN 0 85524 031 8. It chronicles in great detail the various items and styles of uniforms worn by the Waffen-SS, along with the assorted designs for division insignia, including schools and academies, as well as specialist badges, shoulder straps, collar patches, cuff titles, arm shields, and much more used on the uniforms. It begins with an Introduction, followed by a Table of Contents. The book is divided into four Parts: 1. Establishment, Organisation, and Divisions; 2. The Uniforms; 3. Waffenfarben; 4. Rank and Unit Insignia. The book contains 112 pages of text in English, along with multiple photographs and line drawings, most of which are printed in black ink, complemented by sixteen uniform-themed colour plates interspersed throughout the book (pages 33, 36, 37, 40, 41, 44, 45, 48, 65, 68, 69, 72, 73, 76, 77, 80) that are printed in four-color inks, on a semi-coated thick white paper stock, with images printed on the front and back covers, perfect-bound, measuring 150 mm (w) x 210 mm (h) x 10 mm (d). It exhibits tape repair on the spine as separation has occurred on the perfect bound gluing, with a coffee ring stain on the front cover, along with light soiling on both the front and back cover, with the four page section 99-102 loose versus the binding, however, the pages within remain pristine. Fine.
