Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Oak Leaf Pattern Reversible Camouflage Field Cap

(Waffen-SS getarnt Feldmütze in Eichenlaubmuster). A rare Waffen-SS camouflage field cap, constructed of a multi-panel, weather-hardened, cotton duck cloth. The exterior is dyed in a classic SS Oak Leaf B Pattern camouflage, with a mottle consisting of a light brown base bearing irregular splotches of olive-drab and dark green for use in late spring and summer foliage. A reversible garment, the cap turns-inside out, where it is dyed in an autumn pattern with a mottle consisting of a medium brown base overlaid by irregular splotches of light and dark brown. It features a protruding visor which consists of a rigid card stock core, fully lined in identical cloth that is appropriately dyed on both the obverse and reverse. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 20 cm (w) x 25 cm (l) x 14 cm (h). It demonstrates minor material fatigue consistent with field use, which includes several small holes to the front of the side walls (with two to the peak consistent with the removal of a metal Totenkopf insignia), in addition to minor soiling. This scarce and battlefield-worn Waffen-SS camouflage cap remains in a better than very fine condition.
