Description

(SS Suchdienst Papier). A HIAG (Mutual Aid Association of Former Waffen-SS Members) Tracing Service file for SS-Reiter Karl Hettwer, who was born on 26 July 1926 in Gießmannsdorf (now Goświnowice, Poland), and who served with the 37th SS Volunteer Cavalry Division Lützow. His last known whereabouts were in Posen (now Poznań, Poland) on 19 January 1945 as the Red Army advanced west. The request for information was filed by his brother, Willi. The file retains a black-and-white studio portrait of Hettwer wearing an SS Enlisted uniform. Measuring 21 cm (w) x 14.5 cm (h), it remains in an extremely fine condition.
