Germany, SA. A Standard Bearer’s Gorget

(Sturmabteilung Ringkragen für Fahnenträger). Constructed of nickel-plated metal, the obverse overlaid by a brass insignia in the form of an eight-pointed starburst, in turn bearing an SA-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed sunwheel-style swastika, surrounded by a ribbed ring overlaid across the bottom by oak leaf branches, the top corners bearing brass rosettes, the reverse with dual tangs and a loop, retaining a classic double-link neck chain, the central stabilizing tang bearing a hand-etched number “14/33” flanked by an illegible inscription, otherwise unmarked, measuring 12.5 cm (w) x 13.5 cm (h), demonstrating the loss of its reverse liner and with minor scratching to the base metal, a scarce example in better than very fine condition.
