Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval medallion overlaying a pair of skis, bearing a central mountainscape overlaid by a German national eagle clutching the emblem of SA-Gruppe Hochland, flanked by a date of “FEBR. 1940” and situated above a dedication of “DER FÜHRER DER SA-GRUPPE HOCHLAND” (“THE LEADER OF SA-GRUPPE HOCHLAND”), circumscribed by an inscription of “KRIEGS-SKIMEISTERSCHAFTEN D. SA-GRUPPE HOCHLAND / GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN” (“WARTIME SKI COMPETITION OF SA-GRUPPE HOCHLAND / GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN”), the reverse bearing an engraved inscription of “FÜR MITARBEIT” (“FOR ASSISTANCE”), measuring 82 mm (w) x 60 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former maker marked “CARL POELLATH, SCHROBENHAUSEN”, with a fitted dark blue velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, measuring 115 mm (w) x 90 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), an exceptionally well-preserved wartime set in extremely fine condition.
