Description
(Luftschutz-Dienstbuch zugleich Personalausweis). The service book/identity card was issued in Hamburg-Harburg to Paul Wagener on 25 February 1942. The service book has a blue, thing cardboard binding with a cover displaying the Luftschutz insignia, and Gothic lettering. Above the insignia, Wagener wrote his own surname in black ink. The service book contains 32 pages with personal data, size information, medical examinations, vaccinations, received service clothing, activity during peace, service during the war, promotions, medals and honours, furloughs, and discharge information. The back cover page is punched with two holes. The book measures 101 mm (w) x 143 mm (h), and in very fine condition.
Footnote: Paul Wagener was born 2 September 1905 in Harburg. He received his military physical examination on 8 December 1939 and the result of fully fit for service with Luftschutz. On 1 April 1943, Wagener received the promotion to Überplanmäßiger Truppführer. Two months later, he received another promotion and rose to Wachtmeister der Luftschutzpolizei. Wagener won a SA-Sportabzeichen in Bronze. He was discharged on 14 October 1944 and transferred to the Polizei-reserve.
