Germany, RAD. A Rare Long Service Award, Female Issue, I Class for 25 Years

(Dienstauszeichnung Reichsarbeitsdienst, I. Klasse für 25 Jahre). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1943 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original bow tie ribbon stitched with eagle device and retaining a horizontal pinback on the reverse, consisting of a double-sided oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the top and bottom by ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised mobile swastika situated within wheat stalks, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IM REICHSARBEITSDIENST” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE REICH LABOUR SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 33.55 mm (w) x 44.80 mm (h), weighing 27.7 grams (inclusive of ribbon), demonstrating minor scratching to the base metal, a rare award in extremely fine condition.
