Germany, NSDAP. A Standard Bearer’s Gorget, by F.W. Assmann & Söhne

 (NSDAP Ringkragen für Fahnenträger). Constructed of bronzed aluminum, the obverse consisting of a crescent-shaped plate trimmed along the edges with raised oak leaves, overlaid by a raised and toned NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse retaining a pressed brown wool liner, with two downward-pointing clips affixed to the upper corners, in turn accommodating an original multi-link neck chain, each constructed of bronzed aluminum, with the obverse of each link bearing alternating NSDAP eagles and mobile swastikas situated within oak leaf clusters, the gorget double-stamped with Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker codes of “M5/8” for F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, the collar double-stamped with RZM logos and maker codes “M1/17” similarly for F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, the gorget measuring 22.5 cm (w) x 15 cm (h), demonstrating minor loss bronze finish throughout the base metal and the partial deterioration of the liner (possibly indicative of mothing), a rare gorget in better than very fine condition.
