Germany, NSDAP. A Pair of Breeches for Political Leaders

(NSDAP Stiefelhose für Politische Leiter). An extremely well-preserved pair of NSDAP breeches for Political Leaders, constructed of dark khaki-tan wool with a subtle whipcord weave. Eight brown bakelite buttons are distributed around the waistband, while a French fly closes with six buttons of identical construction. Two side pockets are set into the upper front thighs, each closing with scalloped flaps perforated with reinforced buttonholes which meet brown bakelite buttons. A single back pocket is set into the upper right and closes with an identical flap and button. Two integral straps also set into the upper back fasten closed with functional metal buttons. Each ankle features a vertical slash which closes with grommet-reinforced eyelets retaining original drawstrings at the top, and with bakelite buttons at the bottom. The interior features a partial white rayon liner around the waistband, reinforced with machine stitching, with a fully-intact and matching “PL-STIEFELHOSE” Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) label bearing a maker’s code of “D2/61101” for an unidentified manufacturer. The breeches measure approximately 42 cm across the waist, with an inseam of 32 cm, and an overall length of 98 cm when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating only minimal signs of material fatigue consistent with age and wear, they remain in an extremely fine condition.
