In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Luftwaffe Schirmmütze für einen Offizier). A Luftwaffe Officer’s visor cap, constructed of dark grey whipcord wool. It features reinforced side walls which are fully lined on the exterior with a black wool cap band. Both the top and bottom edges of the band are trimmed with silver aluminum wire piping, while an additional length of identical piping trims the outer edge of the crown. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark grey wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 32 mm (h). Stitched onto the cap band directly below the eagle is an additional insignia consisting of a dark grey wool bearing bearing a central metal tri-colour cockade, situated within a hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire winged wreath. The band is flanked by pebbled magnetic metal studs which retain an original twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire chinstrap, adjusted with dual functional sliding knots of identical construction. A pressed blackened leather visor completes the exterior features. The interior is surrounded by a dark brown leather sweatband, and encompassed by a multi-piece beige rayon-blended liner. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 24 cm (w) x 28 cm (l) x 13 cm (h). Significant issues consistent with age and field wear are evident, and include moderate mothing, material fatigue, and soiling throughout the exterior material, some deterioration of the wire elements, distortion of the structure of the cap consequent to long-term storage in underneath a heavy object, and the loss of the interior moisture guard. This field-worn and untouched example remains in a fair condition.
