Germany, Luftwaffe. A Trench Art Propeller Cockpit Clock, by Kienzle

(Grabenkunst Borduhr). An interesting trench art clock, consisting of a Luftwaffe Borduhr (cockpit clock), constructed of a non-magnetic metal casing, with a black face featuring numerals 1-12 with second intervals, topped by a 60-second stopwatch, with hour and minute hands, retaining luminescent paint throughout, affixed to a lacquered wooden board carved to imitate a propeller, the edge reinforced with aluminum, affixed to a base constructed of identical wood and riveted with four aluminum feet, the face maker marked “KIENZLE” for the noted Hamburg-based clockmaker, measuring 21 cm (l) x 10.5 cm (w) x 17 cm (h), the functionality of the clock is indeterminate, an interesting example of Second World War trench art, in extremely fine condition.
