Germany, Luftwaffe. A Soldbuch and Accessories to Theo Schmidt, Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 33

(Luftwaffe Soldbuch mit Fotos und Zubehör). A lot of items issued to Theo Schmidt, who rendered late-war service to Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 33, including:

1. A Soldbuch, constructed of a blue-grey card stock binding with 24 paginated interior pages, with handwritten and stamped entries indicating that Schmidt was born on 11 August 1927 in Chemnitz and was assigned to 2. Ersatz-Batterie, schwere Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 33, with recorded service through the end of February 1945, and further entries indicating that he was in Reservelazarett Köthen (Anhalt) at the end of April 1945, the interior of the cover retaining a certified studio portrait of Schmidt in uniform, measuring 10 cm (w) x 14 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.

2. A matching set of Flieger-HJ Rottenführer shoulder straps, each constructed of black rayon with dark grey wool underlays, trimmed with blue piping, and wrapped with silver aluminum wire tresses, both unmarked and measuring 34 mm (w) x 95 mm (l), demonstrating minor material fatigue and the addition of a card stock reinforcement to the base for post-war display, in very fine condition.

3. A German Red Cross (DRK) membership card, named to Schmidt, issued in Chemnitz, and dated 1 October 1942, measuring 90 cm (w) x 105 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

4. A group of 16 period photographs, ranging from postcard size (9 cm x 13 cm) to standard size (6 cm x 9 cm), including a portrait of Schmidt in a Reichsarbeitsdienst (Reich Labour Service/RAD) uniform, as well as numerous shots of Schmidt’s unit in the field, including images of a Flak 88, in overall extremely fine condition.
