Description
(Luftwaffe Erkennungsmarke für Mannschaften der schwere Heimat-Flak-Batterie 225). Constructed of zink, the obverse bearing a double-stamped inscription of “SCHW. HEIM. FL. BATTR. 225/VII”, with a blood type of “A” and identification number of “89”, perforated with with three eyelets for suspension and concealed within a period original leatherette pouch, measuring 70 mm (w) x 50 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
Footnote: Schwere Heimat-Flak-Batterie 225 was formed on 26 August 1939 with five batteries, four of which provided heavy flak cannons, with the fifth consisting of a searchlight battery. It was deployed in Erfurt from July 1940, before being transferred to Hamburg in 1940, where it remained with 3. Flak-Division until 1944. The unit was then shifted around Germany until being dissolved later that year.
