Germany, Luftwaffe. A Rare and Mint Observer's Badge, with Case, by C.E. Juncker

(Beobachterabzeichen mit Etui). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in position, wiht a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “C.E. JUNCKER, BERLIN”, measuring 52.11 mm (w) x 52.95 mm (h), weighing 30.3 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner featuring a rectangular cell texture, the lid bearing a gilt inscription of “BEOBACHTERABZ.”, the interior with a padded blue rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted dark blue velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 76.25 mm (w) x 78.79 mm (l) x 25.66 mm (h), as scarce thin wreath variant demonstrating Juncker’s noted quality and retaining virtually all of its original finish, in near mint condition.
