Description

(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of nickel-silver and tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in position, with a wide barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, featuring a full maker’s mark of “BRÜDER SCHNEIDER A.G. WIEN” which has been applied upside-down, measuring 64.82 mm (w) x 53.30 mm (h), weighing 37.1 grams, a scarce and unusual Type 3 badge in extremely fine condition.
