(Luftwaffe Ritterkreuzträger Fotos mit Unterschriften). A mixed lot of signed Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross recipient photographs, including:
1. One depicting Oberst Rudolf Böhmler, consisting of a reproduced image presented on a card stock backer, situated above Böhmler’s handwritten signature in blue ink, measuring 16.5 cm (w) x 22 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. One Oberst Walter Gericke with the Knight’s Cross in wear, presented on an off-white card stock backer, the lower half of the image overlaid by the subject’s handwritten signature in black ink, the reverse bearing handwritten inscriptions incorrectly identifying the subject as Rudolf Böhmler, measuring 15.5 cm (w) x 20.5 cm (h), demonstrating some discolouration of the backer, in near extremely fine condition.
3. One depicting Oberstarzt Heinrich Neumann, in uniform and with the Knight’s Cross and with embroidered versions of the Fallschirmjäger Badge and 1939 Iron Cross I Class visible, the lower half of the image overlaid by Neumann’s handwritten signature in blue ink, measuring 8.5 cm (w) x 12.5 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
4. One depicting legendary Germany boxing champion Max Schmeling, the obverse depicting Schmeling in a suit, the lower half overlaid by his handwritten signature in pencil, the reverse notably featuring an English-language dedication to a “George”, extending well-wishes to him and his “American friends”, date 4 May (possibly 9) 1945 and sent from Germany, measuring 9 cm (w) x 14 cm (h), demonstrating a tear which has been repaired on the reverse with tape in addition to some creasing and discolouration, an interesting a unusual example dedicated to American forces in Germany during the closing days of the Third Reich in very fine condition.
