Germany, Luftwaffe. A Glider Pilot’s Badge, Refurbished Example, by C.E. Juncker

(Segelflugzeugführer-Abzeichen). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a mobile swastika, overlaid by a German national eagle in mid-flight, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in position, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch emanating from a circular plate, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a mid- to late-war example produced by C.E. Juncker, Berlin, measuring 51.56 mm (w) x 44.27 mm (h), weighing 24.5 grams, as commonly documented with this variant the badge previously cracked in half at approximately the mid-section and was subject to a careful period repair, a refurbished example in very fine condition.
