Description
Description
(Luftwaffe Waffenrock für einen Oberfeldwebel der Flak/Artillerie). An extremely well-preserved Luftwaffe Flak/Artillery Oberfeldwebel, constructed of dark blue-grey wool cloth. It features a turned-down collar which is trimmed with red piping and a silver aluminum wire tresse, and which is flanked by collar tabs constructed of red wool with buckram cores, in turn pinned with four aluminum gulls, and measuring 40 mm (w) x 60 mm (l). The shoulders are topped by straps which are constructed of dark blue-grey wool, trimmed with red piping, bordered by silver aluminum wire tresses, and pinned with silvered metal numerals “37” situated within dual rank pips. Each measuring 45 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), the boards are secured in place with machine stitching at the seam of the shoulder and with pebbled metal buttons on the inner edge. The cuff of each sleeve is rolled up to a depth of 16 cm and fixed in position with two pieces of stitching. Four plated pockets are set into the breasts, all closing with horizontal flaps perforated with reinforced buttonholes, in turn meeting pebbled metal buttons. Stitched onto the upper right breast just above the corresponding pocket is an insignia consisting of a dark blue grey wool backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 90 mm (w) x 50 mm. Pinned onto the upper left breast is a ribbon bar for the War Merit Cross II Class with Swords. The tunic closes with four pebbled metal buttons on the right meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. Stitched through the top buttonhole is a ribbon for the 1939 Iron Cross II Class. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece slate-grey cotton liner which extends through the arms. A single pocket is integrated into the upper left breast liner. Stamped just above the pocket are size dimensions and a Luftwaffebekleidungsamt logo, with a date of “38”. Illegible names are also visible on the lower left breast in black ink. The tunic measures approximately 41 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 58 cm, and an overall length of 72 cm. Demonstrating no evident damage or wear, this untouched and high-quality tunic remains in an extremely fine condition.
