Germany, Luftwaffe. A Flak-Regiment 4 Commemorative Medallion, with Case

 (Flak-Regiment 4 Erinnerungsmedaille mit Etui). Constructed of copper-washed bronze, the obverse bearing a central raised droptail-style Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “FLAK-REGIMENT 4 / DORTMUND”, measuring 39 mm in diameter, situated within its period presentation case, constructed of a heavy card stock frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and fitted maroon velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 82 mm (w) x 92 mm (l) x 30 mm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue throughout the case, in near extremely fine condition.

Footnote: Flak-Regiment 4 was formed on 1 October 1936 in Dortmund, tasked with providing air defence in the vital Ruhr industrial region. Batteries attached to the regiment also served with units embedded with Army Groups Centre and South during Operation Barbarossa, and continued to see action on the Eastern Front through the end of the Second World War.
