(Luftwaffe Borduhr). Constructed of die-cast zinc with a glass face with maker mark “KIENZLE” for Kinzle Uhrenfabrik, Schwenningen, main clock gradated in sixty parts and marked at intervals of five, with outer ring gradated in sixty parts and similarly marked at intervals of five, inset clock occupying position for number “6” on the main clock gradated in sixty parts with a single arm, all arms and minute markers luminescent, metallic catch on right obverse allows clock to open with hinge revealing black notched magnetic metal wind-up mechanism stamped “8 TAGE” (“8 Days”) “10 STEINE” (“10 Stones”), rear attachment features four screw holes for attaching clock to aircraft console, interior stamped “BAL 137”, reverse with silvered plate inscribed “Borduhr” (“Board Clock”), “Gerät-Nr. 127D550A-1” (“Device Number 127D550A-1”), “Werk Nr. 37254” (“Factory Number 37254”), and “Anforderz Fl23886-1” (“Order Fl23886-1”), measuring 59 mm (w) x 59 mm (l) while face has a diameter of 55 mm, the winding mechanism is no longer functional but presents in an otherwise very fine condition.
Footnote: As the service history of this antique timepiece is unknown, it is recommended that the watch is serviced and tested for water resistance prior to being fully wound, worn, or put in contact with water.
