Germany, Luftwaffe. A Bomber Clasp, Gold Grade with Star Pendant, by G.H. Osang

(Frontflugspange für Kampf- und Sturzkampfflieger in Gold mit Sternanhänger). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a swastika, surrounding a central winged bomb executed in blackened magnetic iron, flanked by each side by nine oak leaves, with two loops emanating from the lower edge for the accommodation of a hanger consisting of a central starburst flanked by clusters of oak leaves, the reverse with a single visible rivet securing the bomb in position, with a barrel hinge and tapering horizontal pinback meeting a flat wire catch emanating from circular plate, maker marked “G.H. OSANG, DRESDEN”, the clasp measuring 76.83 mm (w) x 26.03 mm (h), the hanger measuring 35.06 mm (w) x 12.40 mm (h), weighing 21.0 grams overall, demonstrating near-total loss of finish throughout the base metal in addition to period soldered repair and replacement of the pendant loops, in very fine condition.
