Germany, Kriegsmarine. An EM/NCO’s Board Cap

(Kriegsmarine Schiffchen für Mannschaften). An extremely well-preserved Kriegsmarine EM/NCO’s board cap, constructed of dark navy blue wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which taper downward toward the peak. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a blue rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered golden-yellow Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 60 mm (w) x 25 mm (h) overall. Directly below the eagle, the cap features an additional insignia in the form of a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, similarly affixed to a dark blue rayon backer, measuring 26 mm in diameter. Notably, the left side of the wall is pinned with a badge, constructed of bronze, which features a Berlin coat of arms, measuring 26 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black cotton/rayon blended liner, which is plain with the exception of a size mark of “59” on the left side. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 29 cm (w) x 13.5 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, this owner-personalized example remains in an extremely fine condition.
