(Kriegsmarine Bescheinigung). An interesting immediate postwar Kriegsmarine service pass, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, filled with handwritten entries issued to “STBS. OB. STRM. KURT BAUER” (Stabsobersteuerman) on 22 November 1945, indicating that Bauer was assigned to paygroup 11 from 1 December 1943, and was the recipient of the Memel Medal, the War Merit Cross II Class with Swords (30 January 1943), the Minesweeper War Badge (23 August 1944), the Iron Cross II Class (5 September 1944), the Naval Front Clasp (1 March 1945), and the Wehrmacht 4-Year Long Service Award, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Oberleutnant, measuring 11 cm (w) x 15.5 cm (h), a pass issued to a high-decorated Kriegsmarine veteran in extremely fine condition.
