Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Rare Female Auxiliary’s Board Cap

(Kriegsmarine dunkelblaues Schiffchen für Nachrichtenhelferinnen). An extremely well-preserved Kriegsmarine female auxiliary’s board cap, constructed of dark blue wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which slope downward toward the front. A length of golden-yellow wool piping fully trims the top edge of the walls. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark blue rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered golden-yellow Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 30 mm (h) overall. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black rayon liner. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 28.5 cm (l) x 14 cm (h). Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, this scarce example remains in an extremely fine condition.
