Description

(Abzeichen für Blockadebrecher). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a circular chain link wrath, surrounding a central depiction of a blockade runner cutting through waves and breaking the chain, with its bow overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika in mid-flight and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN” and maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 48.78 mm in diameter, weighing 36.8 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of finish, in better than very fine condition.
