An extensive Imperial-era medal bar featuring seven decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 42.10 mm (w) x 47.08 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
A Saxon Albet Order, I Class Knight’s Cross with Swords, constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Latin Cross with white enameled arms, with a green enameled oak leaf wreath through the quadrants and crossed swords piercing the centre, the obverse with a central white enameled disc bearing a raised profile of Duke Albert III, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (“ALBERT THE MERCIFUL”), the reverse bearing a central white enameled disc bearing an enameled Saxon coat of arms, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “1850”, the six o’clock arm maker marked with “R” for Albert Roesner, Dresden, measuring 38.30 mm (w) x 51.36 mm (h), with loss of gilt and some flecking of enamels evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
A Mecklenburg-Schwerin Military Merit Cross, II Class, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central monogram of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV, the six o’clock arm with a date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with an inscription of “FÜR AUSZEICHNUNG IM KRIEG” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR”), unmarked, measuring 40.26 mm (w) x 45.11 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
A Hamburg Hanseatic Cross, constructed of silver with enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms and central red enameled disc bearing a silvered Hamburg coat of arms, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE 1914” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR 1914”), unmarked, measuring 40.12 mm (w) x 42.70 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
A Bremen Hanseatic Cross, constructed of silver with enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms and central red enameled disc bearing a silvered Bremen coat of arms, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE 1914” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR 1914”), unmarked, measuring 39.15 mm (w) x 43.10 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords through the centre, the obverse bearing wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse marked “KM & F” for an unidentified maker, measuring 37.63 mm (w) x 43.12 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
A NSDAP 10-Year Long Service Cross, constructed of a bronzed zink alloy, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, with radiant sun rays joining the quadrants, the obverse bearing a raised NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, overlaying a circular oak leaf wreath, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “TREUE FÜR FÜHRER UND VOLK” (“LOYALTY FOR FÜHRER AND PEOPLE”), unmarked, measuring 42.26 mm (w) x 47.30 mm (h), with oxidation and most of the finish lost, in overall very fine condition; all affixed to a 195 mm-long zink bar with a dark grey wool reverse liner and horizontal pinback, unmarked, in near extremely fine condition.
It is accompanied by a matching ribbon bar of earlier issue, featuring six decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, a Saxon Albert Order with Swords, a Mecklenburg-Schwerin Military Merit Cross, a Hamburg Hanseatic Cross, a Bremen Hanseatic Cross, and an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, affixed to a 90 mm-long zink bar with a field-grey wool reverse liner and horizontal pinback, retaining a maker’s label of “FRIEDR. SEDLATZEK, BERLIN”, with some fading and material fatigue evident, in overall very fine condition.
