Description
(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar for a combatant of the Boxer Rebellion and First World War who was appropriately decorated for long service, featuring four awards, including:
1. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing wreathed dates “1914-1914”, the reverse maker marked with the logo of Reichsverband Pforzheim, measuring 37.90 mm (w) x 42.28 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. A Prussian Landwehr Long Service Award, II Class, constructed of copper, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 25.17 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
3. A China Medal for Combatants, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a double-sided circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a depiction of a German eagle grappling with a Chinese dragon, the reverse bearing a monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II, circumscribed by inscriptions of “DEN SIEGREICHEN STREITERN” (“TO THE VICTORIOUS FIGHTERS”) and “1900 CHINA 1901”, unmarked, measuring 32.64 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
4. A Prussian Officer’s 25-Year Long Service Cross, constructed of gilded bronze,on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, the reverse bearing a number “25” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 39.20 mm (w) x 43.49 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
All suspended from a 120 mm-long bar with a horizontal pinback, field-grey liner, and brass core, demonstrating moderate soiling and material fatigue to both the ribbons and liner, with detachment of the Honour Cross and Officer’s Long Service Cross, in very fine condition.
