Germany, HJ. A Golden Leader’s Sports Badge, Gustav Brehmer

(Führer-Sportabzeichen der HJ). Instituted 6 May 1938 by Baldur von Schirach. (1938-1944 issue). Constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, surrounding a black enameled void overlaid by a Tyr rune, in turn bearing a defaced by a mobile swastika situated within a circular ring bearing an inscription of “FÜR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H.J.” (“FOR MERIT IN THE H.J.”), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, bearing an award number of “14746”, also marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code of “M1/101” for Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, measuring 39.93 mm (w) x 49.46 mm (h), weighing 35.5 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of finish throughout the base metal resulting in some tarnishing, in addition to some blunting of the tip of the rune, in very fine condition.
