Germany, HJ. A Golden Leader’s Sports Badge, Grade B, by Gustav Brehmer

(Führer-Sportabzeichen der HJ). Instituted 6 May 1938 by Baldur von Schirach. (1938-1944 issue). Constructed of gilded magnetic iron, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, surrounding a black enameled void overlaid by a Tyr rune, in turn bearing a defaced by a mobile swastika situated within a circular ring bearing an inscription of “FÜR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H.J.” (“FOR MERIT IN THE H.J.”), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, marked with a grade of “B” (representing an accumulation of 6,500 points in a two-day sports event), also marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code of “M1/101” for Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, measuring 39.86 mm (w) x 50.98 mm (h), weighing 37.9 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish throughout high-contact points, in near extremely fine condition.
