Germany, HJ. A Deutsches Jungvolk Side Drum, by Lefima

(Deutsches Jungvolk Trommel). A well-preserved Deutsches Jungvolk (DJ) side drum, constructed of a wooden casing with the upper and lower edges painted in a classic DJ black and white diamond motif, retaining an intact skin batter head, fastened together with six metal lug casings, the base retaining a taut wire coil, with a protruding handle emanating from the side, accompanied by two original sticks, each constructed of black painted wood and accompanied by their original brown leather hanger which is stitched into a loop for belt suspension, the side of the drum maker marked “LEFIMA ORIGINAL”, indicating manufacture by Ernst Leberecht Fischer, Markneukirchen, measuring 33 cm in diameter, demonstrating wear to both the paint and skin consistent with age and period use, a complete set in very fine condition.
