(Abzeichen und Verleihungsurkunden). An extensive lot of awards and documents named to Gefreiter Edmund Krause, 9th Grenadier Regiment, 23rd Infantry Division;

1. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the suspension ring maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “67” for H. Kreisel, Gablonz, measuring 44.52 mm (w) x 48.10 mm (h), weighing 19.2 grams, in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by its award document, constructed of off-white paper stock with black ink, named to “JG. EDMUND KRAUSE, 7./G.R. 9”, issued in the field on 27 December 1943, with a handwritten signature of Generalmajor Paul Gurran (Knight’s Cross), measuring 140 mm (w) x 200 mm (h), with a central folding crease and material fatigue evident, in overall very fine condition.

2. An 1939 Iron Cross I Class, constructed of iron and silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, the reverse of the pinback maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “100” for Wächtler & Lange, Mittweida, measuring 43.82 mm (w) x 43.78 mm (h), weighing 20.0 grams, the catch has been repaired and there is evidence that the cross has been convexed post-manufacture, in overall very fine condition; accompanied by its award document, constructed of off-white paper stock with black ink, named to “GEFR. EDMUND KRAUSE, 7./G.R. 9”, issued in the field on 29 January 1944, with a handwritten signature of Generalmajor Horst von Mellenthin (Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves), measuring 140 mm (w) x 200 mm (h), with a central folding crease and minor material fatigue evident, in overall better than very fine condition.

3. An Infantry Assault Badge, Silver Grade, constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, diagonally across the wreath is a Karabiner 98k rifle, with the bayonet attached and carrying sling hanging down, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 48.05 mm (w) x 63.36 mm (h), weighing 28.6 grams, in near extremely fine condition, accompanied by its award document, constructed of off-white paper stock with black ink, named to “GEFREITEN EDMUND KRAUSE, 7./G.R. 9”, issued in the field on 9 March 1944, measuring 150 mm (w) x 210 mm (h), with a central folding crease and some material fatigue evident, in overall very fine condition.

4. A Wound Badge, Gold Grade, constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a vertical pinback meeting a flattened integrated catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “30” for the Vienna Mint, with hand-etched initials “EK”, measuring 36.26 mm (w) x 43.76 mm (h), weighing 34.5 grams, with bending of the catch evident, in overall near extremely fine condition, accompanied by its award document, constructed of off-white paper stock, named to “GEFREITEN EDMUND KRAUSE, 7./GREN. RGT. 9”, nominated for five wounds suffered on 20 January 1944, issued on 7 March 1944, measuring 140 mm (w) x 198 mm (h), with a central folding crease and some material fatigue evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
