A lot of documents and insignia to Gefreiter Erich Brommer, 8th Panzer Regiment, including a Wehrpaß, constructed of a field-grey card stock binding, with 52 interior pages, featuring a black-and-white photograph of the bearer, measuring 106 mm (w) x 148 mm (h), with minor age-appropriate material fatigue evident, in overall near extremely fine condition; an award document for a 1939 Iron Cross, II Class, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, issued 13 December 1941, measuring 140 mm (w) x 198 mm (h), featuring a handwritten signature of General Erwin Rommel, presented in a wooden frame measuring 188 mm (w) x 265 mm (h), with material fatigue and soiling of the document evident, in overall very fine condition; an award document for a Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, issue 26 December 1941, featuring a handwritten signature of General Gustav von Vaerst, measuring 148 mm (w) x 208 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; an award document for a Wound Badge, Black Grade, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, issued on 2 January 1942 for a wound suffered on 23 November 1941, featuring a handwritten signature of General Hans Cramer, measuring 148 mm (w) x 210 mm (h), and; an Afrika Korps cuff title, constructed of a dark green cotton-blended base, the exterior trimmed at both the top and bottom with machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire, with a central machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire inscription of “AFRIKAKORPS”, the reverse with an olive-drab cotton blended backer, unmarked, measuring 23 mm (w) x 430 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.

Footnote: Erich Brommer was born 14 July 1921 in Vaihingen, Germany, to Lutheran parents Adolf and Anna. He completed higher education and was conversant in both English and French. He entered Wehrmacht service as a volunteer on 19 May 1938, and also fulfilled a mandatory Reich Labour Service (RAD) commitment between 1 April and 29 October 1939. He was sworn into active Wehrmacht service on 2 October 1940, when he was assigned to the 119th Infantry Ersatz Battalion in Stuttgart. He later transferred to the 460th and 470th Infantry Ersatz Battalions, before a permanent move to the 8th Panzer Regiment.

Between 12 January 1941 and 9 April 1941, Brommer was assigned to occupation duty in France, as well as other duties in Germany. He was then deployed to Africa on 10 April 1941, where he was engaged in combat at Tobruk. He was decorated numerous times throughout the war, receiving the West Wall Medal in September 1940, the Silver Grade Panzer Assault Badge on 26 December 1941, the II Class Iron Cross on 14 December 1941, and the Black Grade Wound Badge on 2 January 1942. The latter two awards were bestowed posthumously; Brommer died of wounds in a field hospital in North Africa on 14 December 1941.
