Description
(Generalmajor der Artillerie/Flak Waffenrock). In field-grey gabarine wool, the collar is constructed of smooth hunter green wool, and is flanked on each side by tabs constructed of red wool bases with gold bullion wire insignia, both measuring 45 mm (w) x 85 mm (l). The shoulder are adorned with boards constructed of cardboard-reinforced red wool bases, each of which bears two gold bullion wire bands interwoven with a single band of silver aluminum wire piping. The boards each measures 35 mm (w) x 95 mm (l), and are attached to the tunic at the outer edge with machine stitching, and at the inner edge by a gilded, pebbled magnetic metal button. The arms present plain, with the exception of cuffs rolled up to a depth of 145 mm and held in place by dual pieces of machine stitching. Each breast flap bears a pocket opening with a stylized horizontal flap bearing a reinforced buttonhole, the latter meeting a pebbled, silvered zink button. Each button is stamped on the reverse with “A & S” for maker F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid. Stitched onto the tunic above the upper right breast pocket is an insignia consisting of a hunter green wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered gold bullion wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. Please note, as typical, this eagle is post war reapplied. The insignia measures 105 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). The left breast flap bear two sets of vertically-arranged threaded loops, and one set of horizontally-arranged threaded loops, for the accommodation of decorations with vertical and horizontal pinbacks, respectfully.
The tunic is closed with five gilded, pebbled, magnetic metal buttons on the right breast flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. The interior of the tunic features a grey rayon liner which transitions into a pinstripe design through the arms. There is a single interior pocket located at the upper left breast, with an additional wool-reinforced horizontal slit opening into the exterior lower breast pocket. The interior features are completed by a pair of metal hooks on the right collar meeting an equal number of loops on the left. The tunic is unmarked and measures approximately 425 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 580 mm and an overall body length of 690 mm. There is evidence that some of the buttons have been replaced, in addition to minor material fatigue and repair of the interior liner. The tunic is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
