For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. Description
Description
(Heer Schirmmütze für einen Offizier der Panzertruppe). A well-preserved Heer Armoured Troops Officer’s visor cap, constructed of field-grey wool with a pronounced nap. It features reinforced side walls which are fully lined on the exterior with a smooth dark green wool cap band. Both the top and bottom edges of the band are trimmed with lengths of rose-pink piping, while an additional length of identical piping surrounds the outer edge of the crown. Pinned onto the peak is a silvered zink insignia consisting of a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 62 mm (w) x 25 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the centre of the cap band is pinned with a two-piece zink wreath and cockade, measuring 65 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). The lower edge of the cap band is flanked by pebbled buttons which accommodate a chinstrap constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire. A protruding vulcanfibre visor completes the exterior features, and is finished in black on the obverse and in brown on the reverse. A multi-piece brown oilcloth liner fully encompasses the interior, while a brown leather sweatband surrounds the walls. The crown retains a mostly-intact transparent plastic rhomboid moisture guard. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 22.5 cm (w) x 25 cm (l) x 17 cm (h). Issues consistent with age and wear are evident, and include oxidation and loss of finish to the metal insignia, as well as minor fatigue of the interior liner. The cap remains in an overall better than very fine condition.
