(Wehrpaß). A military passport measuring 106 mm (w) x 147 mm (h), dated to 10 November 1939, minor wear and some scuffing and discolouration, and in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Wehrpaß for Rudolf Dähn includes his photo and personal information such as his birth on 21 September 1911 in Plate, Germany. He first joined the army on 20 February 1940, being deployed to the 2nd Company of the Pioneer Replacement Battalion 12. After completing basic training, Dähn transferred to the 2nd Company of the Pioneer Battalion 32. By the end of 1940, he had moved on to the 1st Company of Pioneer Battalion 302 and served until 9 April 1941. On 1 May 1941, Dähn was promoted to the rank of Gefreiter. Dähn defended the French Channel and Atlantic Coast from 10 April 1941 to 31 December 1942. He received training with the weapon Karabiner 98k and additional training as a Flammenwerfer (flamethrower) and gasschutz (gas protection). During the campaign in Russia, Dähn was killed in action on 10 February 1943.
