(Heer Soldbuch). A Soldbuch named to Oberleutnant Horst Schröder of the 93rd Infantry Division, dated 4 December 1940, measuring 105 mm (w) x 145 mm (h), material fatigue evident, otherwise in very fine condition.

Footnote: Horst Schröder was born on 3 February 1920, and initially served in the 193rd Tank Destroyer Unit, attached to the 93rd Infantry Division. On occupation duty in France through the spring of 1941, the division was transferred east in June to participate in Operation Barbarossa. Assigned to Army Group North, the division participated in the Siege of Leningrad. Schröder was then transferred to the 14th Panzergrenadier Regiment, attached to the 5th Panzer Division, where he saw further action on the Eastern Front through 1942, suffering a gunshot wound to the leg in November. He was initially treated at a field hospital in Lyuban, near Leningrad, before being moved to Königsberg.

On 1 January 1944 he was assigned to the 1114th Grenadier regiment, attached to the 551st Grenadier Division, once again within Army Group North. The unit was engaged against the Red Army in the Baltics through the fall and winter of 1944/1945 and was effectively annihilated in Samland. He was decorated three times during the war, receiving the Eastern Front Medal (19 August 1941), the Wound Badge in Silver (1 March 1943), and the Iron Cross II Class (1 December 1944).
