The collar is flanked by tabs which are constructed of green wool and topped by two silver aluminum wire insignia, each measuring 35 mm (w) x 75 mm (l). The shoulders are topped by straps which are constructed of dark green wool with green piping, each measuring 45 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) and secured in place with stitched at the seam of the shoulder and with pebbled metal buttons bearing numerals “1” on the inner edge. The cuff of each sleeve is topped by a layer of smooth dark green wool which is trimmed with green piping, and bears two insignia in the form of green wool bases topped by silver aluminum wire tresses, in turn pinned with pebbled metal buttons. Stitched onto the upper right arm is a Gebirgsjäger insignia in the form of a dark green rayon oval base bearing an edelweiss and knotted border constructed of multi-coloured machine embroidered threading and silver aluminum wire, measuring 50 mm (w) x 65 mm (h). The upper left arm has an additional Obergefreiter rank insignia, consisting of a dark green wool base bearing two silver aluminum wire chevrons, measuring 90 mm (w) x 80 mm (h).Stitched onto the upper right breast is an insignia consisting of a dark green wool base bearing a layer of field-grey rayon embroidery, in turn overlaid by a silver aluminum wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 120 mm (w) x 50 mm (h). The tunic closes with eight pebbled metal buttons on the right breast flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. Affixed to the tunic with the second button and right shoulder strap button is a Heer Marksmanship Lanyard, Grade 2, consisting of an aluminum shield affixed to a silver aluminum wire cord. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece field-grey rayon liner. A single interior pocket is located at the upper left breast. Stamped onto the liner just above the pocket is a maker’s mark of “SCHMIDT & ZOELTSCH, MÜNCHEN”, situated above size markings and a manufacture date of “M39”. The tunic measures approximately 44 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 58 cm, and an overall length of 68 cm. Demonstrating only minor signs of fatigue and soiling consistent with age and period wear, this high-quality parade tunic remains in an extremely fine condition.
