Germany, Heer. A Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 20 Commemorative Desk Ornament

(Panzerabwehr-Abteilung Tischdekoration). A unique commemorative desk ornament, constructed of a block of toned and hollow magnetic iron armour, with the front riveted with a metal plaque bearing an engraved dedication of “PZ. ABW. ABT. 20” (Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 20) and dates of “15. 10. 35 - 12. 10. 37”, topped by an inert training round for a 3.7 cm (anti-tank) PaK 36 gun, with two additional holes for the accommodation of an additional round (both maker-marked for Rheinmetall-Sömmerda and Nähmatag, with codes indicating training rounds), of which one is included and removable, affixed to a wooden stand with feet affixed to four corners, unmarked, measuring 32 cm (l) x 11.5 cm (h) x 18 cm (h), demonstrating minor and and-appropriate surface oxidation to the iron slab, in addition to the missing round, an interesting commemorative service memento to a soldier who served with an anti-tank unit which eventually became Panzerjäger-Abteilung 20 and saw operational service on both the Eastern and Western Fronts of World War II, in better than very fine condition.
