Germany, Heer. A Landesschützen Kompanie Christmas 1939 Commemorative Stein

(Heer Erinnerungs-Krug). Constructed of glazed off-white earthenware, the exterior bearing a hand-painted depiction of a Heer machine gun crew with infantry advancing in the background, situated within an oak leaf frame, topped by a unit dedication of “LANDES-SCHÜTZEN KOMP. 51 BATL. XIII/VII” and situated above an inscription of “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN KRIEGSWEIHNACHTEN 1939” (“IN MEMORY OF CHRISTMAS AT WAR 1939”, with a protruding handle emanating from the side, flanked by a etched mark of “0,5L” for a capacity of one half-litre, the base bearing illegible etched marks, measuring 14 cm (w) (inclusive of handle) x 12.5 cm (h), demonstrating the loss of its lid and thumb piece with minor scratching of the glaze, but with no evident chips or cracks, in better than very fine condition.
